Los Angeles police were investigating the circumstances of a man's body found Tuesday afternoon in Boyle Heights.
Officers and the Los Angeles Fire Department were called to the 2000 block of East 1st Street about 4:15 p.m., said LAPD Officer Matthew Ludwig.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the man died of natural causes, but several officers were examining the scene, Ludwig said.
In recent days, the Boyle Heights neighborhood has been rattled by violence.
A 16-year-old boy armed with a sawed-off gun was fatally shot by police Saturday night during a confrontation.
On Sunday, two people died and another person was injured when a car careened into a home near East Cesar Chavez Avenue and Echandia Street. Before the crash, police say, the occupants were shot at while stopped at a red light.
