Letters: Films that celebrate violence

Re “Hollywood trying to avoid villain role in film violence,” July 28

There is a difference between portraying evil and crossing the threshold into celebrating it; the “Dark Knight” franchise represents the latter, in my opinion.

Other films that crossed this threshold —”A Clockwork Orange,””Natural Born Killers” and”Taxi Driver”— all employed a certain recklessness in their depiction of violence and have stirred the psyche of boundary-less individuals to perpetrate violence.

Every artist with a developed conscience should be aware of the incredible power of art, the frailty of the human psyche and its potential of being influenced, and the responsibility for the images and language we put on screen.
