Arts Commission seeks designs for bench

Share

The Laguna Beach Arts Commission is seeking qualified artists for a bench and surrounding landscaping in Heisler Park.

Professional artists residing throughout California may submit images of previous installations and a resume noting their public art pieces by Jan. 16. The 18 1/2-acre park is located off Cliff Drive and includes walking paths, lawns, gardens and picnic areas.

The bench must be built of durable materials, be easy to maintain in an ocean climate and seat four to six people in an area of the park near Monument Point. The commission discourages benches made of wood.

Commissioners will select three finalists and pay each $500 for a design proposal and another $500 for travel to the site. The chosen artist will receive $50,000 to create and install the bench.
