The Taco Bell employee was about to begin his shift when he was approached by a man who questioned him about possible gang affiliation, according to police. The employee was shot once by the man, who then fled, police said.

The employee does not have any gang ties, police said.

Fabian Joel Lopez, 27, was arrested Wednesday evening at his girlfriend’s home in Huntington Beach, said Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department.

Wyatt said Lopez is a documented Anaheim gang member.

Lopez was booked on suspicion of attempted murder with gang enhancements and is being held on $1 million bail at Orange County Jail.
