Yasiel Puig is still waiting for his bubble party.

With the Dodgers trailing the Colorado Rockies by six runs, the bubble-dispensing machine in their dugout wasn’t turned on to celebrate Puig’s ninth-inning home run Tuesday night.

“It wasn’t necessary,” Puig said in Spanish.

The Dodgers lost the game, 10-4.

As far as the game was concerned, the two-run home run was inconsequential. But for Puig, it was significant. It was his first since July 31.

“It’s been a long time, not just hitting a home run, but hitting the ball solidly,” Puig said. “I’ve had a lot of groundouts and strikeouts. But I’m working hard. In these series that remain, I want to hit the ball like I did before. That’s what I’m working to do.”

The night wasn’t perfect for Puig. With two outs and the bases loaded, he struck out looking on a borderline pitch by Tommy Kahnle.

Puig put his hands on his hips and stared at home plate umpire D.J. Reyburn until first base coach Davey Lopes pointed him toward the dugout.

“It was low,” Puig said. “That was the umpire’s decision. He called me out. I wasn’t disputing the call. I was just looking at him.”

Puig finished the day two for five. He was also two for five the previous night in the Dodgers’ series-opening victory.

Puig said he was encouraged by how he hit the ball in the Dodgers’ previous series in San Francisco.

Puig was five for 12 with a double and a walk in the three games against the Giants.

“I hit very well against San Francisco, a team that has good pitching,” he said.

Puig said he is looking forward to facing the Giants, second behind the Dodgers in the NL West, again next week -- this time in Los Angeles.

“I hope to give my best and hit them well and win the games that we need to finish in first place,” he said.
