Baseball: Taft stays unbeaten
The early season continues to go well for Taft.
Taft improved to 5-0 with a 13-0, five-inning win over Wilson. Matt Parent threw the shutout and Zach Roth contributed four RBI. Most impressive about the Toreadors’ start is they haven’t used their ace, Max Mehlbaum, on the mound. He has been recovering from a hamstring injury.
Sylmar is 2-1 after knocking off Cleveland, 5-3. Jake Arevalo improved to 2-0 on the season, throwing a complete game. He allowed six hits and struck out four. Andrew Ochoa went two for two. Mario Cruz had an RBI double.
Kennedy defeated San Pedro, 4-2. Gilbert Hernandez struck out eight and allowed seven hits.
