Boys’ basketball: Chino Hills, Ayala keep winning

In any other season, Ayala would be considered the best basketball team in Chino Hills with a 19-2 record. But the city also is home to the Chino Hills Huskies, ranked No. 1 in California and No. 1 in the nation.

Chino Hills (20-0) encountered a far more difficult challenge than expected in its Baseline League game against Etiwanda on Tuesday night. The Huskies led by only one point after three quarters but ended up prevailing, 86-66.

LiAngelo Ball scored 38 points. Miles Oliver had 15 points for Etiwanda (15-6), which trailed, 62-61. LaMelo Ball was held out to rest a bruised foot.

Ayala stayed unbeaten in the Palomares League with a 67-51 win over Bonita. John Edgar scored 28 points and Austen Awosika had 15.

Damien defeated Los Osos, 100-40. Isaiah White scored 25 points and Bryce Peters 18,

In the Pacific League, Burroughs defeated Crescenta Valley, 61-59. Tristen Hull had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Angelo Solis added 16 points.

In the Gold Coast, Viewpoint defeated McAuliffe, 63-40. Aram Arslanian scored 14 points and Randy White 12. Campbell Hall defeated Windward, 63-62. Jordan Cohen scored 16 points and had 11 assists. Sierra Canyon defeated Paraclete, 66-33. Michael Feinberg scored 15 points. Brentwood defeated Crossroads, 69-47. Nick Medavoy contributed 25 points.

In the Golden League, Highland stayed unbeaten in league with a 55-37 win over Lancaster. Deshay Gipson scored 20 points.

In the Foothill League, Hart stayed unbeaten with a 60-39 win over Valencia. Chad Donohoe scored 18 points. Canyon defeated Saugus, 62-52, in overtime.

West Ranch defeated Golden Valley, 68-58. Afterward, a Golden Valley player went into the stands at West Ranch, resulting in a scuffle. Police were investigating the incident, according to a West Ranch administator. Kevin Mcquillen scored 19 points and Austin Galuppo 16.

In the Olympic League, Maranatha defeated Heritage Christian, 72-55. Terrance Lang scored 23 points and Trevor Stanback 21.

Eastvale Roosevelt defeated Village Christian, 72-55. Isaac Etter had 16 points for Village Christian.

Flintridge Prep improved to 6-0 in the Prep League with a 65-47 win over Rio Hondo Prep. Dante Fregoso scored 23 points.

In the Sunset League, Los Alamitos defeated Marina, 68-55. Eyassu Worku had 25 points.

St. Margaret’s upset Crean Lutheran, 49-43.

Calabasas defeated Agoura, 48-32, for its seventh consecutive victory. Ryan Murphy scored 23 points. Thousand Oaks defeated Newbury Park, 62-48. Oaks Christian defeated Westlake, 73-59.

Redondo stayed unbeaten in the Bay League with a 78-47 win over Mira Costa. Ryse Williams had 21 points.
