Boys' basketball: Bryce Peters scores 28 points in Damien victory

The tough Baseline League began action on Tuesday night, and Bryce Peters of Damien was ready to deliver.

He scored 28 points in Damien's 66-59 victory over Rancho Cucamonga. Damien improved to 16-1 overall. Toby Owkwuoki had 17 points for Rancho Cucamonga.

No. 1 Chino Hills (15-0) defeated Los Osos, 113-39. Lonzo Ball scored 35 points and LiAngelo Ball added 24 points. Etiwanda defeated Upland, 54-44. Miles Oliver contributed 18 points.

In the Foothill League, Hart held off Saugus, 63-58. Chad Donohoe scored 22 points for Hart. Zach Phipps led Saugus with 20 points. West Ranch defeated Valencia, 72-46. Austin Galuppo had 28 points.

In an Olympic League opener, Village Christian (15-3) defeated Maranatha, 67-64. Terrance Lang had 25 points for Maranatha. Josh Caston had 15 points and Isaac Etter 14 for Village Christian. Heritage Christian defeated Whittier Christian, 61-53.

John Edgar scored 32 points in Ayala's 95-73 win over Claremont in the Palomares League.

In the Bay League, Redondo opened with a 58-53 win over Inglewood. Morgan Means led Redondo with 18 points and Ryse Williams added 15 points.

Sierra Canyon defeated Crossroads, 83-45. Cody Riley scored the 1,000th point of his career.

In the Marmonte League, Westlake defeated Newbury Park, 60-37. Drew Brackens finished with 17 points. Agoura improved to 2-0 with a 49-47 win over Thousand Oaks. Calabasas defeated Oaks Christian, 83-81, in double overtime on a basket by Ryan Murphy at the buzzer. Murphy finished with 32 points.

In the Golden League, Highland (9-5, 5-0) defeated Knight, 77-49. Deshay Gipson scored 30 points.

Tarbut V'Torah (11-2) defeated LaVerne Lutheran, 67-28. Brandon Averitt had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Greg Stein scored 19 points, including five three-pointers.

Ian Caddow had 26 points in Trinity Classical's 79-53 win over Guidance.
