Boys’ basketball: Crossroads, led by Shareef O’Neal, wins St. Monica tournament

There’s a new team ready to take on Sierra Canyon in the Gold Coast League this season. Crossroads improved to 4-0 and won the St. Monica tournament championship on Friday night with a 63-54 win over Santa Monica.

Shareef O’Neal, the former standout from Windward, was named tournament MVP after scoring 21 points in the final and grabbing 11 rebounds. Jacob Ray added 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Santa Margarita traveled to Las Vegas and stunned Bishop Gorman, 83-78. Adrease Jackson scored 32 points and Kaden Rasheed 30.

Bishop Montgomery advanced to the championship game of the Westchester tournament with a 54-43 win over Narbonne. Ethan Thompson scored 20 points. Bishop Montgomery will play Westchester, a 71-53 winner over Washington.

Crespi defeated Bakersfield, 57-56. Kyle Owens scored 11 points and Anthony Booker 10. Hart defeated Dorsey, 55-54. Ben Kaufman scored 30 points. Brandon Crawford had 20 points for Dorsey. Cantwell-Sacred Heart defeated Palisades, 68-65.

LaMelo Ball scored 38 points and LiAngelo Ball had 28 points to help Chino Hills defeat Foothills Christian, 90-73.

Orange Lutheran defeated Rancho Christian, 68-64. Chris Williams had 21 points.

Warren went 2-2 in the Ocean View tournament after a 65-58 win over Central City. Sophomore Tremond Johnson had 17 points.

Mater Dei defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 87-59. Spencer Freedman was nine of 10 from the field and finished with 26 points. Justice Sueing had 20 points.

Grant defeated Granada Hills, 50-49, in overtime. Avo Danielian hit a 15-footer to win the game and finished with 24 points.

In the Maranatha tournament, Muir and Fairfax advanced to the final. Muir defeated Loyola, 72-57. Fairfax defeated Pasadena, 52-50. Jamal Hartwell had 18 points and Ethan Anderson 16.

Oak Park defeated Gahr, 82-57. Riley Battin scored 36 points.

Chamiande defeated San Marcos, 57-40. Dayton Doucette scored 17 points.

Damien defeated Schurr, 78-54. Cameron Shelton had 26 points.
