Boys’ basketball: Daniel Hamilton says he’s going to Connecticut

With Zach LaVine announcing he’s leaving UCLA for the NBA, Bruin fans were hoping that St. John Bosco’s Daniel Hamilton, the younger brother of UCLA redshirt Isaac Hamilton, might decide to join the Bruins to help replace LaVine.

But Daniel Hamilton said Saturday after scoring 22 points in the Braves’ Division II state championship victory over Folsom that he’s headed to Connecticut. He said he likes Connecticut Coach Kevin Ollie, a former Crenshaw player who made a similar move to the East Coast. He said it’s the best fit for him.

“Done deal,” he said.
