Boys' basketball: Top seeds advance in Open Division

There were no upsets on Friday night in the opening round of the Open Division playoffs of the Southern California Regionals.

Stephen Thompson Jr. had 29 points and Christian Oshita 19 in Bishop Montgomery's 75-61 win over St. Augustine.

Mater Dei defeated Westchester, 67-44. La'Vette Parker scored 21 points.

Etiwanda held off Foothills Christian, 56-55. TJ Leaf scored 22 points for Foothills Christian.

Fairfax defeated Orange Lutheran, 75-53. Lorne Currie had 16 points, Donald Gipson scored 13, Isaiah Ajiboye scored 12 points and Lindsey Drew had 10 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.

Rogers Printup led Orange Lutheran with 22 points and CJ Hankins had 17.

Fairfax will host Etiwanda on Tuesday night in the semifinals. Bishop Montgomery will be the home team against Mater Dei. The game is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday at Redondo but won't be finalized until after Saturday's games.
