The top 25 high school basketball teams in the Southland:

1. MATER DEI. Arizona-bound Stanley Johnson is best player in California.¿

2. ETIWANDA. Point guard Jordan McLaughlin has already proved he can beat Monarchs.¿

3. ST. JOHN BOSCO. The trio of Tyler Dorsey, Daniel Hamilton and Vance Jackson will be tough to stop.¿

4. LOYOLA. If 7-footer Thomas Welsh continues his development, beware of Cubs in March.¿

5. CORONA CENTENNIAL. Point guard Sedrick Barefield and 6-5 Deontae North lead Huskies.¿

6. COMPTON. Isaiah Bailey will make alumnus DeMar DeRozan proud.¿

7. GARDENA SERRA. Tavrion Dawson and Ronnie Freeman are ready for big seasons.¿
