No. 25 Baylor sneaks past No. 16 Vanderbilt, 69-67

Taurean Prince scored a career-high 30 points and Lester Medford had 15, including the winning three-point basket, in No. 25 Baylor’s 69-67 victory over No. 16 Vanderbilt on Sunday night at Waco, Texas.

Medford made the three-pointer from the left corner while being knocked down with 42 seconds left. That ended up being the last points of the game because Medford missed the free throw.

Rico Gathers, who became the all-time leading rebounder for the Bears (6-1), fouled out while going for the rebound on Medford’s miss. But Nolan Cressler missed two free throws for the Commodores (6-2).

Gathers had 10 points and 13 rebounds. He has 920 rebounds, surpassing the previous school record of 915 set by Brian Skinner.

Wade Baldwin had 19 points for the Commodores, who missed two shots in the final four seconds, including Cressler’s baseline jumper after a rebound.

at No. 9 North Carolina 98, Davidson 65: Nate Britt matched his career high with 17 points and the Tar Heels (7-1) rolled after scoring the first 10 points and using an 18-4 run to build a 25-point lead before the break.

Jack Gibbs led the Wildcats (5-1) with 19 points.

at No. 17 Cincinnati 87, Morgan State 66: Gary Clark had a career-high 14 rebounds to go with 13 points and the Bearcats (8-1) cruised. Shaq Thomas finished with 15 points for Cincinnati. Kyle Thomas had 17 points for the Bears (2-6). Cincinnati opened with an 18-4 run that featured points from all five starters.
