The Lobos (1-3) regained the lead on Lamar Jordan’s 36-yard touchdown pass to David Anaya midway through the third quarter. Fresno State took the lead for good on Quezada’s one-yard run on fourth down with 56 seconds left in the third. Burrell set up the score with a 45-yard run to the five-yard line.

Jhurell Pressley and Lamar gave New Mexico a 17-7 lead with scoring runs in a 3:52 span in the second quarter. Pressley scored from 18 yards, and Lamar, who completed four of seven passes for 97 yards, ran in from 26.

Utah coach wants Wilson to be careful

Utah Coach Kyle Whittingham prefers that quarterback Travis Wilson keep the acrobatics out of Saturday’s game against Washington State.

Wilson threw for 172 yards and a touchdown in Utah’s 26-10 win over Michigan in the Big House last weekend, but he left the game for a time to get stiches after he tried to leap over a defender and flipped face first onto the field.

The 6-foot-7 quarterback’s season was cut short last year after a concussion revealed an injury to an artery in his brain.

Etc.

Louisville’s offensive fortunes now lie in the hands — and feet — of freshman quarterback Reggie Bonnafon. Coach Bobby Petrino named Bonnafon on Thursday as his starter for Saturday’s Atlantic Coast Conference game against Wake Forest. The Louisville native will make his first collegiate start in place of injured sophomore Will Gardner (knee), but has already played extensively for the Cardinals. Bonnafon ran for two touchdowns and passed for another in a rout of Murray State and replaced an ineffective Gardner for nearly two quarters in a loss at Virginia. ... Only one coach who has gone up at least twice against Urban Meyer in his 13 years as a head coach has a perfect record against him. Tommy Tuberville, who shocked Meyer-led Florida teams in 2006 and 2007 while he was at Auburn, will be in charge of Cincinnati on Saturday night when it plays at Meyer and No. 22 Ohio State.
