The Lakers salvaged a disappointing week -- losing two of three through Week 5 to dip to 4-13 on the season -- with a win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

After ending Week 4 on a sour note in a defeat in overtime the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers lost swingman Xavier Henry for the season with a ruptured Achilles’ tendon.

The injury brought Kobe Bryant right back to his own Achilles injury in April 2013. Bryant has almost returned to form, although he said he’s still feeling some fatigue in his legs, leading to short shots and a change in some of his daily routines.

Bryant and Steve Nash expressed outrage at the grand jury decision in the Ferguson, Mo., case.

The Lakers were awarded a $4.85-million disabled player exception for Nash, who is out for the season with back issues. A number of players around the league fit into the exception -- though most are long shots.

Nash and Coach Byron Scott have yet to talk since the 40-year-old point guard was declared out for the season.

The team is expected to add forward Earl Clark to bolster an injury-plagued roster.

On Wednesday, the Lakers fell to the Memphis Grizzlies, 99-93. Though they competed against the top team in the Western Conference, they just weren’t able to come through at the finish of another close game.

The young and injured Minnesota Timberwolves visited on Friday, and their late rally led to a 120-119 win over the Lakers. It was a chance for the Lakers to improve their record by beating a team with a losing record, but they lost focus late and dropped to the bottom of the Western Conference.

On Sunday, the Lakers drew the top team in the Eastern Conference, the Raptors, without all-star DeMar DeRozan, who is sidelined with a thigh injury.

The Lakers played well against the Raptors, winning in overtime, 129-122, led by Bryant with a triple-double.

Meanwhile, Jordan Hill has proved himself to be one of the Lakers’ go-to players.

The Lakers aren’t overflowing in talent and it may be some time before the team can successfully reload -- if that’s possible under owner/executive Jim Buss.

Scott offered his players some tips on shooting but the biggest issue has been on the defensive end.
