Kevin Durant, Thunder scramble past Wizards, 106-105

Kevin Durant scored 33 points, including a tying three-pointer late in regulation and two go-ahead foul shots in overtime that lifted the Oklahoma City Thunder past the Washington Wizards, 106-105, on Sunday night in Oklahoma City.

John Wall missed a driving layup at the buzzer for the Wizards, who were seeking a third straight win. Bradley Beal scored a career-high 34 points for Washington.

Oklahoma City trailed, 92-82, with 3:26 left with the fourth quarter, but went on a 14-4 run, capped by Durant’s straightaway three-pointer with 13.6 seconds left.

Beal missed a running 12-footer at the buzzer.

In overtime, Durant blocked a shot by Wall and streaked toward the other basket. He made both free throws for a 106-105 lead with 40.7 seconds left.

San Antonio 120, at New York 89: Danny Green had 24 points and 10 rebounds, and the Spurs rolled to their fourth straight win. Kawhi Leonard had 18 points for San Antonio, which scored the first 10 points and led by as many as 37 while spoiling the season debut of Knicks guard J.R. Smith, last season’s sixth man of the year. Suspended for the first five games of the season for violating the NBA’s anti-drug program, Smith shot one for nine and scored five points.

at Phoenix 101, New Orleans 94: Eric Bledsoe scored 24 points and Markieff Morris came off the bench to score 23 as the Suns improved to 5-2. Morris shot nine for 12, and is 30 for 38 from the field over his last three games. Jeff Hornacek became the first coach in Suns franchise history to win his first four home games. Jason Smith led the Pelicans with 22 points.
