Kevin Harvick gets the victory at Charlotte

Kevin Harvick pulled away from Kasey Kahne on a restart with 11 laps left to win the Coca-Cola 600 for the second time in three seasons, a race stopped for nearly 30 minutes Sunday night when a TV camera support rope snapped.

Kahne led 156 laps and appeared to have the strongest machine in NASCAR’s longest race, at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. But Harvick took the low line following the last of 11 cautions and slowly pulled away.

Kahne finished second, Kurt Busch third and polesitter Denny Hamlin was fourth in his second full race since returning from injury.

There were 10 people injured when the rope collapsed. Three were taken to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Nico Rosberg kept his cool amid the chaos to win the crash-marred Monaco Grand Prix and give Mercedes its first victory of the season.

Rosberg finished ahead of championship leader Sebastian Vettel and his Red Bull teammate Mark Webber.

Weekley wins at Colonial

Boo Weekley made three consecutive birdies in the middle of his round to take the lead at Colonial in Fort Worth, and finished with a four-under-par 66 for his first PGA Tour victory in five years.

At 14-under 266, Weekley finished a stroke ahead of Matt Kuchar, the second- and third-round leader who closed with a 68. Defending Colonial champion Zach Johnson, who also won at Hogan’s Alley in 2010, shot 66 to finish third at 12 under for his first top-10 finish this season.

Kohki Idoki erased a five-stroke deficit against a fading Kenny Perry with room to spare, charging to a two-stroke victory in the Senior PGA Championship at St. Louis.

It was the third bitter final-round failure in a major tournament for the 52-year-old Perry, who led by three strokes with six holes to play but settled for a second-place tie with Jay Haas.

The 51-year-old Idoki closed with a six-under 65 to finish at 11 under.

South Korea’s Ilhee Lee won the Bahamas LPGA Classic for her first title, finishing with a five-under 42 for a two-shot win over Irene Cho in the 36-hole tournament at Paradise Island.

Lee finished at 11-under 126. Cho shot a seven-under 40.

Italy’s Matteo Manassero became the youngest champion in the 58-year history of the BMW PGA Championship, beating England’s Simon Khan with a birdie on the fourth hole of a playoff at Virginia Water, England.

Manassero, at 20 years 37 days, made amends for letting victory slip away two years ago at Wentworth. The previous youngest winner was Scotland’s Bernhard Gallacher in 1969 at 20 years 97 days.

Cal State Fullerton and UCLA will host regionals this weekend in the NCAA baseball tournament.

It is the 11th time in the last 14 seasons that Fullerton has hosted a regional. UCLA is hosting one for the fourth consecutive season. Fullerton (48-8) is ranked third in the nation and UCLA (39-17) is ranked eighth by Baseball America.

Jockey Joe Talamo won his fifth consecutive stakes race, riding 3-5 favorite Schiaparelli to a 21/2-length victory in the $73,710 Great Lady M. at Betfair Hollywood Park.

The USA women’s national water polo team defeated Canada, 8-7, in the FINA World League Prelims at Los Alamitos. The USA women will play Monday against Brazil, which earlier lost to Canada, 11-3.
