The Memphis Grizzlies fell to the San Antonio Spurs, 93-86, in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on Monday night.

Marc Gasol, like his brother, Lakers forward/center Pau Gasol, exited the postseason via a sweep by the Spurs.

With the win, San Antonio advances to the NBA Finals for the fifth time in franchise history. The Spurs will play either the Miami Heat or the Indiana Pacers for the championship.

Pau was on hand in Memphis to cheer on his younger sibling.

Enjoying another game at the Forum in Memphis. The Grizzlies are giving themselves a chance. The start of the 2nd half is going to be key. — Pau Gasol (@paugasol) May 28, 2013

When Memphis came up short, Pau tweeted praise for a strong year from the Grizzlies.

Great season by the @memgrizz and @marcgasol . Tough way to end it but it doesn’t take away anything away from them. — Pau Gasol (@paugasol) May 28, 2013

San Antonio’s first-round sweep of the Lakers wasn’t a “fair fight” according to Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich. The Lakers were short Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Metta World Peace and Jodie Meeks (losing player after player as the series progressed).

Pau is still recuperating from non-surgical procedures to help alleviate pain and strengthen both knees. He’s expected to be sidelined from basketball activity for several more weeks. It expected that he’ll be back on the practice floor in mid-August.
