Update: Giovani dos Santos scored his first Galaxy goal less than 20 minutes into his debut Thursday in the team’s CONCACAF Champions League win over Central FC from Trinidad and Tobago. But the level of competition will step up substantially Sunday, when Dos Santos is expected to make his first appearance in a Major League Soccer game against the Seattle Sounders. And this is a game the Sounders, losers of a franchise-record four in a row, can’t let get away since they entered the weekend holding the sixth and final Western Conference playoff spot with 11 games to play.

Seattle hasn’t scored in 362 minutes over five games, which is also a club record, and has scored just twice in its last eight games, going 1-7-0 over that span. The Galaxy, on the other hand, is hot, having won three of its last four MLS games while losing just once in nine tries at home this season. It has also scored 23 times in its last seven MLS games.
