Lionel Messi probably has fans throwing themselves at his feet all the time.

That might be why Argentina’s all-time leading scorer didn’t appear a bit flustered when a crazed fan rushed the field at NRG Stadium in Houston on Tuesday night before the start of the second half of Argentina’s 4-0 Copa America semifinal victory over the U.S.

Messi autographed the fan’s jersey, playfully rubbed the overly enthusiastic fellow’s head as he bowed before him and granted the gentleman two hugs before security finally chased the guy off. The international soccer superstar even seemed a bit amused by it all – at least until the hugging started.

Such is a day in the life of Lionel Messi, I suppose.

This particular day also included a landmark goal during the 32nd minute. Messi bent a free kick into the far corner of the goal just below the crossbar for his 55th international goal, passing Gabriel Batistuta as Argentina’s all-time most prolific scorer.

Messi also had assists on two more of his team’s goals during the rout.

What a life, huh?
