Former San Diego State running back Adam Muema said he was “following God” by leaving the NFL scouting combine this weekend without working out.

It’s not that God doesn’t want him to play in the NFL. Instead, Muema said, God told him that if he did not participate in the workouts he would be drafted by the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

“Can’t go wrong with God,” Muema told the San Diego Union-Tribune by phone on Sunday.

Don’t bother calling him crazy -- Muema is a step ahead of you.

Muema rushed 256 times for 1,244 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Aztecs last year. He’s said to be projected as a middle-to-late-round draft pick.

His Twitter and Facebook accounts are filled with religious messages.

He can still work out for NFL teams at San Diego’s pro day in March. But apparently that is up in the air.

“[God] told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace,” he said.
