Running back Benny Cunningham re-signs with Rams
Running back Benny Cunningham, who was a restricted free agent, has re-signed with the Rams.
Cunningham, 25, in March received an original-round tender from the Rams worth about $1.7 million. The Rams had the right of first refusal if Cunningham received another offer.
He reportedly had visited with the New England Patriots.
On Friday, Cunningham wrote on Instagram, “#RamsNation.. I'm Back!!” and included a photo of Coach Jeff Fisher greeting him on the sideline during a game.
Cunningham signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2013 after playing at Middle Tennessee.
The 5-foot-10, 210-pound Cunningham has scored five career touchdowns.
Last season, he rushed for 140 yards, caught 26 passes for 250 yards and averaged 28.6 yards per kickoff return last season.
The Rams begin offseason workouts in Oxnard on April 18.
