At first glance, Tuesday night’s game between the Clippers and San Antonio Spurs at Staples Center had the look of being a showdown between two of the top teams in the Western Conference.

And it still may be a very good game. It’s just that injuries have become part of the story line.

The Clippers said Monday that starting shooting guard J.J. Redick wouldn’t play against the Spurs because of a sore right hip and that reserve guard Willie Green might also be out because of a sore right hip.

Then came news Tuesday when Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich told reporters at the team’s shoot-around that All-Star point guard Tony Parker is out “for the foreseeable future” with a “variety of maladies.”

Still, it’s the Clippers, who are fourth in the West, and the No. 2 Spurs.

“They’re good,” Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said. “We’ll just have to be ready. We’re good too.”
