Did ‘Sesame Street’ just troll the Patriots over Deflategate? [Video]

Listen up, kids. It’s not nice to pick on people.

Unless, of course, the target is an evil, arrogant football team that may have been caught doing something they weren’t supposed to be doing (again). Then feel free to pile on with the rest of the country.

As the sports world continues to be consumed with Deflategate, “Sesame Street” appeared to get in on the action Friday morning, when PBS aired a rerun of the classic kids show from April of 2013 in which the word of the day (or the “Word on the Street,” as it’s known on the program) was “Inflate.”

This comes a day after New England Coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady held separate news conferences claiming they had no idea why the Patriots’ game balls were illegally under-inflated for the team’s AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Even the cute, lovable Elmo appeared in on the joke during a segment that featured actor Don Cheadle blowing up a beach ball.

“Wow! Look at that!” Elmo exclaims in a mocking tone (or so it seems). “Mr. Don is blowing air into the ball and the ball is getting bigger.”

Of course, all of this could be one big coincidence. I guess we’ll know for sure Monday if the word of the day is “balls.”
