Ducks’ Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf are ill, won’t play against Islanders
Ducks right wing Corey Perry joined Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf in departing Honda Center before Wednesday night’s game against the New York Islanders with what a team official said were flu symptoms.
Perry, the NHL’s player of the month in October, leads the league with 11 goals, and first-line mate Getzlaf has contributed 14 points (11 assists) for the Ducks (10-3).
Perry participated team’s Wednesday morning skate; Getzlaf did not.
The absences are expected to elevate second-line center Ryan Kesler to the first line.
It’s the first time Perry and Getzlaf have both been out for the Ducks since March 28, 2008.
