Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and Omar Gonzalez named to MLS' Best XI

Galaxy's Donovan is named one of MLS' 11 best players for the record seventh time

Three Galaxy players - midfielder Landon Donovan, forward Robbie Keane and defender Omar Gonzalez -- were among those named to the MLS Best XI, Major League Soccer's top 11 players this season, the league said Tuesday.

It was a record seventh time that Donovan, who plans to retire after this year, was named to the roster and the first time that the three Galaxy players were among the MLS Best XI in the same season.

The announcement came ahead of Sunday's MLS championship game, the MLS Cup, between the Galaxy and the New England Revolution at StubHub Center.

Donovan scored 10 goals and added an MLS-leading 19 assists this year, while Keane scored a team-high 19 goals and added 14 assists. Gonzalez was part of a Galaxy defense that allowed a league-low 37 goals this season.

Donovan also holds the league's career records for goals (144) and assists (136).

Here are the other members of the MLS Best XI, which were voted on by MLS players, club leaders and the media:

Goalkeeper: Bill Hamid (D.C. United)

Defenders: Chad Marshall (Seattle Sounders), Bobby Boswell (D.C. United)

Midfielders: Lee Nguyen (New England Revolution), Diego Valeri (Portland Timbers), Thierry Henry (New York Red Bulls)

Forwards: Bradley Wright-Phillips (New York Red Bulls), Obafemi Martins (Seattle Sounders)
