Giancarlo Stanton tweets his displeasure with Marlins trade

Giancarlo Stanton is displeased. He’s angry. He’s furious.

Hmmm. None of those seem quite right to describe how the Miami Marlins outfielder feels about the reported blockbuster trade that sent three of his teammates -- All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes, left-hander Mark Buehrle and ace right-hander Josh Johnson -- to the Toronto Blue Jays for prospects on Tuesday,.

I’ll try again. He’s sore. He’s extremely cross. He’s feeling pretty huffy right now.

Still no good. I’ve got it -- he’s teed off!

Well, that’s about as close as I can come without using the word that he tweeted (but I’m not allowed to post) on Tuesday: “Alright, I’m ... off!!! Plain & Simple.”

The blockbuster deal, which has not been announced by either team, would come less than a year after the Marlins added Reyes, Buehrle and closer Heath Bell in an uncharacteristic $191-million spending spree.

But the team was a huge disappointment and ended up finishing last in the National League East. Former NL batting champion Hanley Ramirez, second baseman Omar Infante and right-hander Anibal Sanchez and others were sent packing in July and Bell was traded last month.

In other words, the fire sale is on.

But, so far, Stanton remains in Miami. He led the team with 37 home runs (second in the NL) and 86 RBIs (seventh in the NL).

That’s doesn’t seem like a guy the Marlins would want to ... uh, make unhappy.
