Former first-round NFL pick Jerramy Stevens was arrested early Monday on suspicion of assaulting U.S. women’s soccer team goalkeeper Hope Solo on the day before their planned wedding, according to police and court records.

Stevens, 33, was released Tuesday after a Kirkland, Wash., municipal judge found no evidence connecting the former Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end to any assault, according to news reports. He has not yet been charged after being arrested for fourth-degree domestic violence assault. But the case is still under investigation, Kirkland Police Lt. Mike Murray said Tuesday.

Solo, 31, appeared in the courtroom Tuesday but left without speaking to reporters, according to KING-TV. She is listed as the alleged victim in court records, which also state that she received a cut to her elbow.

Stevens and Solo, who have been dating for two months and were set to get married Tuesday, argued over whether to live in Washington or Florida, according to court records.

Murray said police responded to a disturbance at a party in a home involving a physical altercation between eight people. Court documents state that Stevens “appeared to be hiding” between a bed and an upstairs bedroom wall when he was found by a police officer.

The officer noted in his affidavit for probable cause for arrest that he made his judgment based on Stevens’ admission he argued with Solo, her injury, signs of a fight in the bedroom and dried blood on Stevens’ shirt.

But Solo and her brother, Marcus, who called 911, blamed the disturbance on two or three unknown men who left the party before the police arrived. Marcus Solo, 34, told police he used a stun gun on one of the men.

Stevens was a standout at Washington and played in the NFL from 2002-10. He has had multiple run-ins with the law, including arrests for reckless driving, driving under the influence and marijuana possession. Solo is a two-time Olympic gold medalist who has played for the U.S. since 2000.
