Kings executives have been speaking highly of prospect Tyler Toffoli’s recent progress in the last few weeks and indicated that the high-scoring forward soon might be bringing his talents from Manchester, N.H., to Los Angeles.

[Update, 3:55 p.m.: Soon turned into Sunday when Toffoli was recalled Manchester.]

The Kings were off Sunday and play the Calgary Flames on Monday night.

Toffoli’s presence could serve multiple purposes. Kings center Mike Richards left Saturday night’s game against Calgary in the second period after a hit from the Flames’ Tim Jackman, but returned for the third. Afterward, Richards, who has a concussion history, said he was fine.

Still, if Richards has any lingering issues, there will be Toffoli as an option. He had 28 goals and 48 points in 55 games with Manchester this season.

Toffoli, who turns 21 in April, was a second-round draft choice by the Kings in 2010. If Richards misses any amount of time, Toffoli could step in on Jeff Carter’s line, for instance.
