Lindsey Vonn thankful to be back on skis
The turkey dinner could wait -- Lindsey Vonn spent Thursday morning getting back on the slopes.
The American ski star posted a photo of herself at Vail, the first time she has been on skis since partially tearing a ligament in her right knee earlier this month.
“It was awesome!” she wrote on her Facebook page. “I’m very thankful for many things this year (family, loved ones, great fans) but at this moment I’m happy to be on the mountain doing what I love- skiing!!”
The reigning Olympic downhill champion suffered a severe injury early in the year, recuperated from surgery but hit another bump in the road during training at Copper Mountain, Colo., reinjuring a reconstructed ligament.
That caused her to withdraw from a race in nearby Beaver Creek this weekend.
Vonn told the “Today” show that she has some doubts about when she can return to racing but did not rule out competing in Lake Louise, Canada, on Dec. 6
She is still hoping to defend her Olympic title at the 2014 Sochi Games in February.
