The Galaxy said Thursday it will host the second game of the two-game Western Conference semifinals in Major League Soccer’s playoffs on Nov. 9.

The Galaxy, which has clinched a playoff berth, said its opponent is yet to be determined because there are still three weeks left in the regular season.

The conference semifinals consist of two games, with the winner decided by the aggregate number of goals over the two matches.

The Galaxy’s first game in the semifinals will be either Nov. 1 or 2 at the opponents’ home venue. The Galaxy then will host the second game Nov. 9 at StubHub Center in Carson. The games’ start times have yet to be determined.

The top five teams in each of the MLS Western and Eastern conferences qualify for the playoffs. The Galaxy (17-5-9) and the Seattle Sounders (19-9-3) currently are tied for first place in the Western Conference with 60 points each.

They’re followed by Real Salt Lake, FC Dallas and the Portland Timbers, respectively. The Vancouver Whitecaps are in sixth place, only two points behind the Timbers and the final playoff berth.

The Galaxy is attempting to become the first team to win the championship, called the MLS Cup, for the fifth time. The Galaxy and D.C. United in the Eastern Conference have each won the title four times.
