National signing day: Recruit Deontay Anderson announces his choice by skydiving
Hunter Mandel sounded excited. Speaking to the Times last week, the Bleacher Report producer was trying to describe some of the surprise video announcements he had in store for national signing day.
But he couldn’t ruin the surprise.
“I can’t tell you,” Mandel said. “On the record, let me think ... No, I can’t, I’m sorry.”
So what video was he thinking of? It might have been this:
That’s a video of Mississippi recruit Deontay Anderson. He is a four-star safety from Manvel, Texas. How did he announce his decision?
By skydiving.
In an article in The Times on Wednesday, Mandel said recruits want to “break the Internet.”
Sometimes in the increasingly crazy world of college football recruiting decisions, it can be difficult to come up with something new for an announcement.
But skydiving? That’s new.
