Richard Sherman for president? The Seahawks cornerback was fine with the idea, pitched by Seattle radio host John Clayton, of writing in Sherman’s name on the ballot.

Keep in mind, Sherman is no stranger to speaking his mind.

“I respectfully accept that nomination,” Sherman told Clayton. “I think I’d have a pretty ingenious plan for our economy to spark more jobs. I’d obviously lower my own tax bracket, but compared to the candidates we have, I’d do a great job. So would young Lockett over there. Young Tyler Lockett [Seahawks wide receiver] would be a phenomenal candidate except, his age. He would be my vice president.”

Does Doug Baldwin, another Seattle receiver, fit anywhere in this nomination?

“Baldwin has to be my secretary of Defense,” Sherman said. “He’s an angry guy. I’d trust my country with Doug Baldwin.”

And now for the slogan of the Sherman/Lockett ticket: “Make America the place you want to raise your kids.”

Sherman already has an outline to get the country out of debt.

“I’d get us out of this deficit,” he said. “I’d stop spending billions of taxpayer dollars on stadiums and probably get us out of debt and maybe make the billionaires who actually benefit from the stadiums pay for them. That kind of seems like a system that would work for me.”

But in all seriousness, Sherman could be president of the NFL Players Assn., with teammate Jimmy Graham as an executive in his committee. His pitch:

“I’d make the rules more fair,” he said. “I’d make defensive players able to at least have the ability to go out there and play,” he said. “Instead of pass interference being a potential 99-yard play, it could only be 10 yards, just like offensive pass interference, which only seems fair.”
