USC basketball: Byron Wesley to play this week after suspension
USC guard Byron Wesley will play this week, Coach Andy Enfield said Tuesday.
Wesley, the Trojans’ leading scorer, was suspended for USC’s games at Stanford and California last week for violating an unspecified team rule. He will be in the lineup against Oregon State on Thursday and Oregon on Saturday.
“Byron has another whole year here and he needs to understand, he needs to be a leader,” Enfield said. “We’re doing our part as a coaching staff to help him understand that.”
Wesley averages 17.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
“If we’re going to be successful next year, Byron will be a huge part of that,” Enfield said. “We have confidence in him and support him. He made a mistake and we’ve moved on.”
