USC football: Javorius Allen selected team most valuable player

Javorius Allen, who emerged as USC’s top tailback midway through the season, was announced as the Trojans’ most valuable player at the annual football awards banquet Friday night.

Allen, a third-year sophomore, rushed for 699 yards and scored 13 touchdowns.

Senior linebacker Devon Kennard won the most inspirational player award.

Among other award winners: Center Marcus Martin (offensive lineman); tackle Leonard Williams (defensive lineman); Allen and receiver Nelson Agholor (offensive perimeter); defensive back Josh Shaw and safety Dion Bailey (defensive perimeter) and Soma Vainuku (special teams).

USC plays Fresno State in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec 21.

The Trojans resume practice on Saturday.
