UCLA plays Saturdays, but the school has some former players who take the field on Sundays. Here’s a weekly blog featuring former Bruins and what they did in their NFL games:

Akeem Ayers, fourth-year linebacker for the Tennessee Titans: For the fourth week in a row, Ayers was inactive for the Titans. He doesn’t seem to be injured, but isn’t getting onto the field. Tennessee lost big to the Indianapolis Colts, 41-17.

Anthony Barr, rookie linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings: Barr recorded six tackles and his second sack of the season in a 41-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Nate Chandler, third-year offensive tackle for the Carolina Panthers: Chandler started at right tackle but didn’t have a great game. He gave up a sack, and Carolina rushed for just 68 yards in a 38-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Derrick Coleman, third-year fullback for the Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks had a bye this week.

Joseph Fauria, second-year tight end for the Detroit Lions: Fauria didn’t play in the Lions’ 24-17 win over the New York Jets because of an ankle injury.

Kai Forbath, third-year kicker for Washington: Forbath has been dealing with a groin injury and had a rough game last week, and didn’t have much of an opportunity to redeem himself this week. Washington was destroyed by the New York Giants on Thursday night, 45-14, and Forbath didn’t have any field-goal opportunities. He did convert both of his PAT attempts, though.

Cory Harkey, third-year tight end for the St. Louis Rams: The Rams had a bye this week.

Mike Harris, third-year offensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings: Harris got his first major playing time of the season, with the Vikings dealing with injuries on the offensive line. The team rushed for 241 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-28 win over the Falcons.

Datone Jones, second-year defensive end for the Green Bay Packers: Jones recorded his first sack of the season, and finished with two tackles in the Packers’ 38-17 win over the Chicago Bears.

Maurice Jones-Drew, ninth-year running back for the Oakland Raiders: 2014 has not been kind to Jones-Drew. He came into the season as the starting back, but recorded just 11 yards on the ground in the Raiders’ first game of the season. He then missed two games with a hand injury, and on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins in London, Jones-Drew was relegated to a backup role. He was given just two carries, gaining one yard, in Oakland’s 38-14 loss.

Marcedes Lewis, ninth-year tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars: Lewis was placed on the Jaguars’ injured reserve/designated to return list last week with an ankle injury, so he didn’t play in Jacksonville’s 33-14 loss to the San Diego Chargers.

Jeff Locke, second-year punter for the Minnesota Vikings: Locke punted just twice, averaging 43 yards per kick, in a 41-28 win over Atlanta.

Cassius Marsh, rookie defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks had a bye this week.

Rahim Moore, fourth-year free safety for the Denver Broncos: The Broncos had a bye this week.

Logan Paulsen, fifth-year tight end for Washington: Paulsen caught three passes for 28 yards, his highest output of the season, but also lost a fumble in Washington’s 45-14 loss to the Giants.

Matthew Slater, seventh-year wide receiver for the New England Patriots: Slater, a kick returner, and the Patriots face Kansas City on Monday night.

Xavier Su’a-Filo, rookie guard for the Houston Texans: Su’a-Filo earned playing time last week after starting guard Ben Jones went down with an injury, but Jones returned to the field Sunday. Su’a-Filo didn’t earn any playing time outside of jumbo packages in the Texans’ 23-17 win over the Buffalo Bills.

Alterraun Verner, fifth-year cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs came from behind to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-24. Verner recorded six tackles in the win.

Christian Yount, fourth-year center for the Cleveland Browns: The Browns had a bye this week. Yount had been struggling as the long snapper, but the Browns didn’t replace him during the bye week, so his job appears safe for now.

Two former Bruins have been placed on injured reserve and will not be playing this season: rookie linebacker Jordan Zumwalt (Steelers) and rookie wide receiver Shaquelle Evans (New York Jets).
