Suspended USC linebacker Osa Masina has been ordered to stand trial on one charge of first-degree rape and two charges of forcible sodomy after a preliminary hearing in Salt Lake City on Monday, according to Masina’s attorney.

The alleged victim testified at the hearing that Masina raped her in July during a house party in Salt Lake City.

Masina’s attorney, Greg Skordas, said, “We felt comfortable with the evidence and there were no surprises.”

“This is a case that is going to go to trial and it was helpful to both sides to hear from the alleged victim,” Skordas added. “We certainly have a lot of evidence ourselves and are looking forward to putting this case in front of a jury.”

According to police records, the alleged victim also told police that Masina and another USC linebacker, Don Hill, sexually assaulted her in Los Angeles earlier in July. That incident remains under review by the district attorney’s office. Hill also is suspended by USC.

Masina is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
