Suspended USC linebacker Osa Masina learned Friday that he had three days to vacate his campus residence, according to his attorney, Greg Skordas. USC has placed Masina on “interim suspension pending administrative review of a Title IX investigation,” Skordas said.

The suspension means he is barred from all USC-sponsored functions and is not allowed on campus without permission and an escort.

USC has also banned suspended linebacker Don Hill from all team activities, Coach Clay Helton said Tuesday, though he did not say whether Hill would still be allowed to take classes. Neither Hill nor his attorney could be reached for comment.

Masina and Hill are being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department in connection with a sexual assault case, according to an LAPD search warrant obtained by The Times. They have not been charged with a crime.

Masina is also under investigation by the Cottonwood Heights Police Department in Utah in connection with a separate sexual assault case involving the same woman.

Hill and Masina were suspended from USC’s first two games but had been able to participate in all other team activities, including practices and team meetings.

Skordas said Masina plans to appeal the suspension.

Masina was served a search warrant on USC’s campus a week before the Trojans’ Sept. 3 season opener against Alabama. Helton announced his suspension days later. Hill, who was named as a suspect along with Masina in the alleged Los Angeles assault, traveled with the team to Arlington, Texas, for the game but was sent home less than 24 hours later, after news reports surfaced that he was named in the search warrant.

Police in Utah initially informed USC’s Department of Public Safety of the allegations there on Aug. 2, according to the LAPD report.

The LAPD has told The Times that its investigation into the case here is ongoing. On Tuesday, it said the investigation’s status had not changed.

A spokesman for the Cottonwood Heights Police Department said Masina’s case would be referred to the Salt Lake County district attorney Wednesday.
