USC tailback Justin Davis provided the Trojans with a multidimensional threat in their 35-10 victory over Oregon State.

Davis, a sophomore from Stockton, rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown in 15 carries. He also caught three passes for 30 yards and a touchdown.

It was a breakout of sorts for Davis, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury last season against Notre Dame and underwent surgery.

Davis’ performance supported that of junior Javorius Allen, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown in 20 carries and caught five passes for 23 yards.

“We wanted to get Justin more involved and split carries with Buck,” Coach Steve Sarkisian said. “Both ran well.”

Davis has rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns this season. He has six receptions for 61 yards.

The Trojans are hoping to add depth to the tailback corps. Junior Tre Madden has been sidelined all season because of a toe injury, but Sarkisian has indicated that he is making progress toward returning.
