Los Angeles Loyola’s David Long is one who got away — from USC and UCLA.

Long, a top defensive back in the 2016 recruiting class, announced his college commitment on Thursday.

“Proud to announce that I will further my education and football career at Stanford University!” he wrote on Twitter.

Long said last month at the Opening, a high school showcase, that he had built solid relationships with Trojans and Bruins assistants -- but also said he could “definitely” see himself leaving home for college.

Long made an unofficial visit to UCLA this summer to play in the Bruins’ seven-on-seven tournament.

And he posted a photo with Trojans Coach Steve Sarkisian, with the caption “Fight On,” last week when he made an unofficial visit to USC’s campus.
