Raphael Davis made one of two free throws with 4.6 seconds left in overtime Tuesday night to help No. 18 Purdue defeat No. 8 Michigan State, 82-81, at West Lafayette, Ind.
The Boilermakers (20-5, 8-4 Big Ten Conference) ended a losing streak in the series at seven games despite blowing an 18-point second-half lead, trailing by four points late in regulation and allowing the Spartans (20-5, 7-5) to tie it, 81-81, with 11.5 seconds left in overtime.
Davis ended the tie with the free throw, giving him 24 points. A.J. Hammons wrestled the second shot away from Michigan State to seal it. Hammons had 19 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocks.
