It took some willpower from quarterback Brett Hundley -- and three touchdowns by the UCLA defense -- but the No. 7 Bruins escaped with a 28-20 win over Virginia on Saturday in a college football opener in Charlottesville, Va. The Cavaliers were not supposed to be a particularly strong team. They were 2-10 last season when they finished 100th in the nation in scoring offense. And against UCLA, they benched their starting quarterback before halftime. The backup who finished the game, sophomore Matt Johns, had never thrown a pass in a college game.
