LA Times’ Definitive Guide to Top Southern California Dining Spots Arrives May 23rd, Celebratory Members-Only Bite Nite Event May 21st

The Los Angeles Times is publishing its first annual Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants, determined by the Pulitzer Prize-winning critic and self-proclaimed “belly of Los Angeles,” in print and online May 23rd. Digital access is available only to Times members for the first two weeks following publication.

On May 21st, The Times will celebrate the ultimate local dining guide with Bite Nite, an intimate tasting event hosted by Gold and featuring more than 20 hand-selected restaurants. Times members will have exclusive access to event tickets, on sale May 8th.

“Los Angeles is recognized around the world for its vibrant, diverse and influential culinary scene, which The Times covers in depth,” said Alice Short, The Times’ Assistant Managing Editor, Features. “Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants gives our readers a rich roadmap of his picks and takes them along for the adventure.”

The guide will include current capsule reviews, ranking the eateries in ascending order, alongside stunning original images from The Times’ award-winning photographers. The digital edition lets readers chart their courses with an interactive map and multiple ways to sort the list. Competitive foodies can use Facebook to create brag lists highlighting the places they’ve visited and wish lists indicating which of the 101 are in their sites. It is also optimized for mobile devices, letting diners take Gold “to go.”

Los Angeles Times members with Thursday delivery will find Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants in their print edition on May 23rd. It will be available for purchase that day at retail locations and on street racks and, starting May 24th, as a back issue vialatimes.com/store. From May 23rd to June 6th, the guide will be available online exclusively for Times members. Tickets for Jonathan Gold’s Bite Nite are $101 and available exclusively to Times members beginning 10:00 a.m. PDT on May 8th.
