Placentia : Council Shifts Funds to Cover Evacuation Costs
City Council members have approved the transfer of about $17,000 from the city’s reserve funds to cover the costs of evacuating between 150 and 200 businesses in Placentia during a toxic fire June 22 in Anaheim.
Meanwhile, Placentia has joined Anaheim and Fullerton in asking the businesses for estimates of financial loss blamed on the fire at Anaheim’s Larry Fricker Co. About 7,500 residents of the three cities were evacuated.
Officials want state and federal disaster aid for both the cities and the private companies affected during the fire.
City Manager Roger Kemp Wednesday said the $17,000 will pay costs ranging from flares to personnel overtime.
