J.B. Williamson and Prince Mohammed Win Light-Heavyweight Bouts at Forum

World-rated light-heavyweights J.B. Williamson and Prince Mohammed both easily won their scheduled 10-round bouts Monday night at The Forum.

Williamson, of Los Angeles, won a unanimous decision over Jimmy Bills, of Vallejo, Calif. Williamson weighed in at 171 pounds, and Bills weighed 177.

Ranked No. 3 by the World Boxing Assn., Williamson dominated the fight, winning every round but the fourth. He scored the fight’s only knockdown in the closing seconds of the ninth round.

Referee Pat Connolly scored the fight 99-91. Judges John Thomas and Dr. James Gen-Kin both scored the bout 99-90.

Williamson improved his record to 20-1 with eight knockouts, while Bills fell to 8-4-3 with four knockouts.

In the companion 10-rounder, Mohammed, ranked No. 2 by the World Boxing Council, knocked out Chris Schwenke with 17 seconds left in the fight.

The 175-pound Mohammed had won every round before he finally floored the exhausted Schwenke, 175.

Mohammed, of Hollywood, improved his record to 32-1-2 with 16 knockouts.

Ireland’s Sean Mannion won a unanimous 10-round decision over Anaheim’s Bert Lee in front of 1,621 fans at the Irvine Marriott, the largest crowd ever at the hotel’s new 1985 fight cards.

On the undercard, Floyd Weaver earned a draw with Roderick Sparks of Cypress, and Troy Weaver lost a split decision to Frank Martinez of San Gabriel.
