RERUNS, SEX TOPS IN CABLE-TV POLL
Cable viewers like to watch something old or something blue.
Reruns of old shows and programs with sex themes were the winners in a survey of 21 national cable-TV networks, reported in the August issue of On Cable magazine.
“The Andy Griffith Show,” which bowed in on a first-run basis on CBS in 1960, is the most popular show on Ted Turner’s WTBS, while NBC’s “Wagon Train,” which got cracking in 1957, was the hit of CBN.
Turning to something blue, “Eros International,” a sex magazine, is the most popular series on pay-TV’s Cinemax, while Dr. Ruth Westheimer’s “Good Sex” talk show is the hit of Lifetime.
