Irvine : Bicyclist Dies of Injuries From Hit-Run Accident
An Irvine bicyclist struck by a hit-and-run driver Saturday morning died Monday of his injuries at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, Irvine police said.
Craig Kevin Casey, 26, never regained consciousness after his bicycle was struck from the rear about 11 a.m. Saturday by a car driving west on Irvine Center Drive near Orange Tree. He sustained massive internal injuries, including a broken spinal cord, and died about 6 p.m. Monday. Casey was the first bicyclist to be killed in a traffic accident this year in the city, Police Lt. Sam Allevato said.
No one has been arrested in connection with the accident, police said.
