McClatchy Newspapers of Sacramento and Viacom International of New York reportedly will pay more than $205 million for Tribune Publishing Co., publisher of the Tacoma News Tribune, if the agreement is completed as planned in about four months. McClatchy will acquire the newspaper, which has a circulation of 106,000 and an unchallenged position in its market. Viacom, a cable television company, will get the company’s cable television assets, which serve about 75,000 subscribers in Pierce, King and Thurston counties. Viacom also will acquire KNBQ-FM, a radio station serving Tacoma-Pierce and Seattle.
