Canela Fights Long Tonight at Marriott
Felipe Canela and Al Long, two of the top welterweights in the state, will meet in a 12-round fight for the vacant California welterweight title tonight at the Irvine Marriott Hotel.
Canela, of Holton, enters the match with 20-4-3 record. Robertson, of Los Angeles, is 17-4.
On the undercard, Lee Sentinella of Westminster will meet Ruben Blackwell at 162 pounds.
Usually held on the last Monday of the month, this month’s card at the hotel was pushed back a day because of the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The first bout will begin at 7:30 p.m.
According to promoter Don Fraser, more than 500 tickets in all price categories are on sale today at Megan’s in the Heritage Shopping Center in Irvine, all Ticketmaster outlets in May Co., MusicPlus and SportMart stores.
