Campbell Hall Adds Eight-Man Football to Growing Program

Campbell Hall High will field its first football team in the school’s history this season.

The Vikings, who will play eight-man football, have a nine-game schedule, which includes three varsity games and six junior varsity games.

Campbell Hall will compete as a free-lance school in 1986 before joining the Delphic League within the next two years.

This marks the first school year that the North Hollywood school will have a senior class of boys. It was previously an all-girls school and became coed four years ago.

“The school is very, very dedicated to building a strong boys program here,” Athletic Director Kristine Ragland said. “We’ve been planning to have a football team for two years. We will move to a full varsity schedule either next year or the year after. It depends upon how the program evolves this season.”

The Vikings will play their home games on campus during the day on a football field which was completed last school year. While most eight-man football programs in the Southern Section field teams with approximately 15-20 players, Campbell Hall, will begin its first season with 35 players.

Last year, the Vikings played their first season of interscholastic high school basketball. After one season of junior varsity competition, they will move up to the varsity level this season and compete in the Delphic League.
